Donate Today!
The Hospitality Industry Education Foundation (HIEF) awards thousands of dollars of scholarships each year to students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry. These scholarships enable the next generation of leaders to meet the growing need for a skilled workforce in the hospitality industry.
The scholarship program is possible only through the generous contributions of hospitality businesses and the vendor community. Please consider donating a scholarship (minimum amount of $250) this year. You may donate in the name of your company or family or in memory/honor of a colleague, family member or industry supporter.
Please contact Tom Schuch our Education Director, if you are interested in funding a scholarship in your company’s name or to establish a memorial scholarship.

What is the Hospitality Industry Education Foundation (HIEF)?
HIEF is our Hospitality Industry Education Foundation. Primarily it’s a scholarship fund, and a foundation to promote culinary and hospitality education. The Hospitality Industry Education Foundation (HIEF) is dedicated to implementing a series of approved courses of instruction or participate and contribute to existing educational programs for the education of persons who are interested in pursuing a career in the restaurant industry. This is accomplished through the administration of the ProStart program in New Mexico.
HIEF grants scholarships to students who are attending a two or four year post-secondary hospitality/tourism related program and who are New Mexico residents or have met resident status. We solicit and accept contributions and donations and engage in fundraising activities for the support of the scholarship fund.
HIEF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the educational mission of the New Mexico Restaurant Association. In addition to administering the ProStart Program, HIEF awards scholarships to students pursuing a degree in the hospitality industry!
