Webinar with NMRA CEO Carol Wight and NMED Food Program Manager Johnathan Gerhardt discussing the 2018 food code changes and how they will affect you and your food operation.

The mandate for training all employees is April 1, 2019.

This excludes Albuquerque and Bernalillo who are under a different jurisdiction.

Some of the major changes include:

  1. In New Mexico the Person in Charge does not have to be a Certified Food Protection Manager but they do have to have the knowledge to answer an inspector correctly.
  2. A certified food protection manager is permitted to be responsible for more than a single food establishment with an approved variance.
  3. Food operations must now have a written plan for clean-up of vomiting and diarrheal events.
  4. Food handler card will be required in food operations for employees handling TCS foods

For members we would like to share your discount codes for ServSafe food handler online and Food Manager classes ofered throughout the state.
